Historic Marietta

When I think of attractive spots to live around Atlanta one of the first places that come to mind is Marietta. The history of this city dates back before Atlanta and Chattanooga. In fact  what first started Marietta was a small cluster of homes near Kennesaw Mountain in 1824. This really began to grow after Western and Atlantic Railroad decided to build a railroad right by Kennesaw Mountain in the early 1830's. Businesses popped up everywhere after the railroad started its route from Chattanooga to Adairsville.  Marietta has more history than some cities will have in their whole lifetime. Today, the city of Marietta has a strong commitment to keeping the history of the last 200 years special.

The communities that surround the core of Marietta have a lot to offer. They range from the preserved 100 year old home to the brand new homes tucked in mature lots with aged oaks. The homes have spacious lots, towering oaks, with a wonderful location close to great shopping, restaurants, and the historic trails of Kennesaw Mountain. Real estate in the historic part of Marietta is always moving. A couple of hot neighborhoods currently are around the streets of Keeler Woods, Cherokee street, Church street. All are in the school district of West Side Elementary which is a top rated school in the state. Tons of young people are moving north of Atlanta to start a family near this quiet and affordable suburb. Homes in the area range from the $200k-$800k depending on the location and features of the home.
