Edgewood is a small intown Atlanta neighborhood that claims to be “the coolest place to live inside the perimeter”. Edgewood is located just south of Little Five Points, north of East Atlanta, west of Kirkwood and east of Reynoldstown. It is conveniently bordered by I-20, and only three miles away from Downtown, Atlanta. Edgewood is definitely a “cool” neighborhood; with a convenient location, a new retail district, and a friendly community, this intown neighborhood has a lot to offer.
The new Edgewood Retail District is a $110 million, 44 acre development located off Moreland Avenue, just south of Little Five Points. In the development there are 540,000 square feet of retail space which houses a variety of stores including Target, Lowes, Best Buy, Kroger, Barnes & Noble, Office Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, Petco, Ross Dress for Less, a variety of restaurants, and more. Mixed with the retail development are residential lofts, which include the Caroline Street Lofts and the Shoe Factory Lofts. This new retail and residential development has been a fantastic addition to the Edgewood community, making it a more convenient and self-sufficient intown neighborhood.
Homes for sale in Edgewood include Craftsman style bungalows, Victorian homes, and a variety of newer construction homes. The streets of Edgewood are very hilly, and many of the homes are on spacious lots, somewhat removed from the road. Edgewood has become a very popular place to live in the last few years because of the new retail conveniences, in addition to the neighborhood’s affordable housing prices, it's close proximity to I-20, Downtown, and the Edgewood MARTA station. Also, Edgewood is known to be a very friendly and welcoming community with an active neighborhood association that holds regular meetings and plans activities.
Edgewood is located in DeKalb County in the City of Atlanta, and zoned for the following public schools: Whitefoord Elementary, Coan Middle School, Crim High School, Charles R. Drew Charter School, and Neighborhood Charter School.
